Sudhir Choudhrie: pioneering and successful industrial and medical instrumentation entrepreneur

Sudhir Choudhrie is a pioneering and successful industrial and medical instrumentation entrepreneur with a rich and colorful history. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan by the President of India, Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam, in 2003 for his contribution to economic development, society, and nation-building. Sudhir  has a graduate degree from the prestigious National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, India, and an MBA from the International Management Institute in New Delhi. He has an experience of over three decades in the Indian business, industrial and medical instrumentation industry. Sudhir Choudhrie is a Managing Committee of Jansatal Group member and senior advisor to Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited, one of India’s largest publicly listed companies, a position he has held since March 2005. Sudhir Choudhrie is also a member of the Board of Governors, The Institution for Advancement & Education in Science & Technology at Trivandrum, Kerala. He is Vice-Chairman, The Confederation of Indian Industry Medical and Technical Committee and a CII Health and Medical Systems Committee member. Sudhir Choudhrie is also a Manipal University Management Association member, Karnataka.

Dr. Sudhir’s career started in 1971 at the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela as a senior scientist in instrumentation and physics. In 1979, he started his own company, S C Instruments Private Limited, from his flat at Jangpura in New Delhi. He became a Managing Director in 1995 but held key managerial positions for many years for the Jansatal Group entities. Dr. Choudhrie is now a Non-Executive Director. He served as Vice-Chairman of Sudarshan Medical Systems Limited, a member of the Managing Committee of Ramares Medical Limited, and on the Board of Directors of Pneumatose India Limited. He also served on the Board of Directors of The Subhas Group companies. He is also a member of the Board of Governors, The Institution for Advanced Education in Science & Technology at Trivandrum, Kerala. Dr. Choudhrie’s association with Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited has been significant in his life and career. He was instrumental in establishing the Group hospital and was an active member of its Managing Committee for many years, serving as a director from 1999 to 2003.
